One of the most often questions I get asked is when is the best time to book a cruise. Well, that can depend on a number of factors. The short answer is during Wave Season which runs from January through March every year. Most cruise lines offer great deals and incentives to book then.
Usually, the early you book the more savings you will get as well more cabin choices. Many people think that booking at the last minute saves you money but that isn't always true. The days of booking a cruise a day before or even the day of are long gone. Cruise lines have to turn in their passenger manifests to the Coast Guard or equivalent 72 to 48 hours before the ship is scheduled to depart.
However, sometimes booking a last-minute vacation can offer big savings as well. But of course, the choices are limited as to the cruise line, destination and cabin selection.
Here are some things to consider:
|Book Early||Last Minute|
|Want a suite||X|
|Selective about cabin location||X|
|Selective about destination||X|
|Selective about cruise line||X|
|Need to purchase airfare||X|
|Need to request vacation time in advance||X|
|Don’t care where I go – just get me on a ship||X|
|Don’t care what cruise line – just get me on the ocean||X|
|Don’t want to plan – just want to find a great deal||X|
|Don’t care where my cabin is located – put me in a closet if you want||X|
|1 or 2 people only||X|
Last minute cruises can be a great savings for people who are very flexible with their time and live close to the port.
Also, did you know that I have the ability to monitor the price of your cruise (most of the big cruise lines) and I will be alerted if your cruise drops in price? I will investigate to ensure it is actually a better deal for you and if it is then I make the changes and call you with the good news!
